Tool Change Reason Sets
Tool Change Reason Sets group Tool Change Reasons that are applicable to one or more tools.
Manufacturing equipment can use different tool configurations. Therefore, the Tool Change Reasons that apply can vary between tools.
A set-based approach allows Tool Change Reasons to be assigned to the appropriate tools and reused across multiple processes. This approach supports consistent master data and simplifies reporting.
A Tool Change Reason Set can contain multiple Tool Change Reasons and can be assigned to multiple tools. Existing Sets can also be copied to create new sets. Tool Change Reasons can then be added to or removed from the copied set before the set is assigned to the applicable tools.
A default Tool Change Reason Set can also be configured for each tool type. New tools created for that tool type can inherit the default set.
When an operator is required to specify the Tool Change Reason during an action, such as the reason why a tool is changed during production, the available reasons are limited to the reasons included in the Tool Change Reason Set assigned to the tool.
