Tool Allocation
Tool Allocation enables specific tools to be selected for a production order before production starts. Tool selection can occur. For example:
- During production planning by the planner.
- After production planning by the tool room engineer. In such cases, the tool room engineer can review the production schedule and current tool inventory to select the appropriate tool(s).
Tools can be allocated to a specific machine for a production order. Tool allocation speeds up the tool change process as the tools required for the production order are known in advance. When a new production order is started, tools allocated to the new production order can be loaded automatically. Tool loaded for the previous production order are automatically unloaded if different tools are allocated to the new production order.
Before a tool can be allocated to a production run, the required tool must be defined on the routing operation.
