Asset Counter Life
Asset Counter Life defines the usage threshold at which an asset reaches the end of the asset's useful life. Many assets have a limited useful life. Over time normal wear and tear reduces the effectiveness of the asset. Regular maintenance can extend the operational life of an asset. However, every asset eventually reaches a point where the asset must be permanently retired or scrapped.
Use the Asset Counter Life records to define end-of-life thresholds for assets. Each record specifies a threshold value and the relevant asset counter used to measure the threshold. Asset Counter Life definitions are specific to individual assets and cannot be shared across multiple assets.
For example, a machine asset can produce 15,000,000 pieces during the useful lifetime, or a tool asset can extrude 450,000 meters of material before being retired.
In most cases, a single Asset Counter Life definition is sufficient for an asset. However, multiple end-of-life criteria can be defined for the same asset by using multiple asset counters when required.
