Asset Business Rules
Asset Business Rules provide additional control over when an asset transitions from one state to another. These rules can be configured to reflect operational constraints or business logic that must be enforced in the system.
Examples of business rules include:
- Automatically transitioning an asset to a new state after a defined period. This is a standard shipped business rule.
- Allowing a transition only after the asset has remained in the current state for a minimum duration. This requires additional implementation effort.
- Requiring specific data to be specified or a checklist to be completed before a transition is permitted. This requires additional implementation effort.
These rules help to:
- Ensure consistent handling of assets across the factory.
- Automate or streamline workflows while maintaining quality and compliance.
The implementation of these rules is performed by the services team in conjunction with additional functionality.
Additional functionality within the application is required to implement business rules. The required functionality depends on the selected rule type and can include:
- A scheduled UDI event
- OPC data capture
- Extended callouts from a standard transaction
