Production Orders

A Production Order is an instruction to manufacture a specific quantity of a material within a defined time frame.

Production Orders are scheduled to run one or more production lines in the plant. Each order is executed on the production lines to manufacture the required material.

Production Orders are identified by a unique number, typically generated by ERP or a planning tool. The application can receive production orders from ERP by scheduling details and using the information to allocate and plan execution on production lines. After completion, the application can send confirmation updates back to the ERP system.

A production order contains a set of data that defines the specific requirements for the order, such as item weight, packaging requirements, and label text. These data fields are inherited from the material master record, however, can be overridden on the order, if required.

Each production order is linked to a Routing and a BOM, which defines how the production process is carried out.
