Downtime

Downtime refers to any period during which production equipment in the facility is not operating.

Downtime consists of two concepts:

• Production Stops: Periods when no production order is being carried out on a production line, or when machine-level status is not relevant, such as during a changeover.
• Machine Stops: Periods when an individual machine is not running.

Machine Stops often occur simultaneously with Production Stops. Since machines are not running when production is halted, Production Stops take precedence over Machine Stops when downtime is recorded.

MES supports both manual and automatic downtime tracking, with automatic recording available through OPC integration.
