Production Performance

Production performance analyses key production data, including production orders, downtime, production counts, scrap counts, rework counts, and inventory creation and consumption. This data is used to generate a set of KPIs, aligned to ISO22400 definitions where applicable, and is aggregated by production line and period.

These KPIs cannot be generated by machines. A single production line represents the lowest level of aggregation because KPIs, such as OEE, typically require inputs from multiple sources within a production line, and the cycle time is defined against a production run executed on a production line.

To enable responsiveness and accuracy in KPI reporting, the source data utilized for production performance reporting is automatically aggregated into a data cache. This cache stores the relevant data for each production line, and for every change in:

  • Hour
  • Production Run
  • Shift

Relevant data is swept and accumulated within these records. KPI results are not stored in this cache, allowing KPI calculations to remain flexible when aggregating data across different reporting periods and dashboard views.

The application maintains the cache for the current period and refreshes the cache when relevant source data from historical periods is added or modified. Examples include updating downtime data from the previous shift or modifying Production Counts from an earlier period.

Note: Super users can trigger recalculation manually or re-population of the cached data when required. Such actions are not required during normal system operation, however, can be useful during system commissioning, or when changes are made to the shift calendar or to the production line configuration settings.

The production cache population, immediate updates, and retrospective refreshing are handled through scheduled events configured within Infor MES.
