Projects

Projects are non-production entities used to record labor bookings, with a common intention to support cost tracking in ERP (with appropriate integration in place).

Generally, an individual Project represents a set of pre-defined activities (tasks) performed outside of the context of a production order, however, with a specific objective. Examples include establishment of a new production line, implementation of some scrap-reduction measures for a specific product, or the adoption of new safety measures in the factory.

Projects differ from Overhead Orders as a Project requires a detailed list of sub-activities (tasks) and is not intended to be repeated indefinitely. A Project is completed once all associated tasks are performed.

The Project identifier is defined separately from an optional definition of the Project Order. Which can relate to an ERP order. Each Project can optionally reference a single Customer if the Project is associated with one.

Projects have a simple set of status options: Not Started, In Progress, Completed. Only incomplete projects can have labor bookings assigned. Projects also have Start and End dates to track overall elapsed time.
