Scrap Reason Sets

Scrap Reason Sets combine multiple Scrap Reasons that are applicable to one or more Machines.

Manufacturing equipment can produce different types of scrap or reject. Because of this variability, each machine can require a different collection of Scrap Reasons.

A set-based approach to modelling this master data enables accurate allocation of Reasons to the related entities, offers reuse of the Reasons across as many processes as necessary thus ensuring data integrity and consistency, and simplifies reporting.

Scrap Reason Sets can hold multiple Scrap Reasons and are assigned to any number of Machines.

Existing Sets can be copied to create new Sets, allowing Reasons to be added, or removed as required before assigning the Scrap Reason Sets to the applicable Machines.

A default Scrap Reason Set can also be configured per Machine Type, to allow for new Machines to inherit this Set upon creation.

When Scrap Reason must be provided as part of an operator action, for example, when recording a scrapped quantity, the available Reasons are limited by the Set that is allocated to the Machine.
