Stop Reason Sets

Machine Stop Reason Sets are used as a flexible tool to collect any number of Machine Stop Reasons that are applicable to one or more Machines.

Because manufacturing equipment often differs in its operation, functionality, or supplier, the valid reasons for downtime may vary from machine to machine. As a result, individual machines make use of a different collection of Stop Reasons.

A set-based approach to modelling this master data enables accurate allocation of Reasons to the related entities, offers reuse of the Reasons across as many processes as necessary thus ensuring data integrity and consistency, and simplifies reporting.

Machine Stop Reason Sets can hold multiple Reasons and are assigned to any number of Machines in MES.

Existing Sets can be copied to create new Sets easily, allowing new Reasons to be assigned, or existing Reasons to be removed before the Machine Stop Reason Sets are assigned to the applicable Machines.

A default Machine Stop Reason Set can be configured per Machine Type, to allow for new Machines to inherit this Set upon creation.

When a Machine Stop Reason must be provided as part of an operator action, such as providing a root cause for a period of downtime event, the offered Reasons are limited by the Set that is allocated to the Machine.
