Outbound Inventory Packs

Outbound Inventory Packs can be associated with shipment items to define the individual package expected to be included in a shipment. These records can be created before picking begins to plan which inventory packs from stock must be shipped.

A customer reference number can be recorded for each outbound inventory pack as an external pack number. This number is used when customer-provided labels are applied during shipping and to link customer labels with internal labels, for traceability.

When the shipment is being prepared, inventory packs are picked from the stock and loaded onto the shipment. If the outbound inventory packs have not been defined in advance, the loaded packs are recorded as the Outbound Inventory Pack records for the shipment. These records track when each inventory pack is being loaded.

The inventory pack that has not been loaded onto a shipment are available for picking. After an inventory pack is loaded, the inventory pack is reserved for the shipment and cannot be picked for another shipment.

When the shipment is dispatched, the loaded inventory packs are marked as shipped and are removed from the available inventory.
