Continuous processes
In continuous processes it might not be appropriate to consider samples, but heads and positions instead. For example, when extruding a continuous bar, tracking the variables from the various cavities in a dye head or measuring at various points across the breadth of the bar are important.
But if the extruded bar is considered a single piece, then the model would assume a single piece but rely upon analysis on a moving or rolling basis. taking the rolling average or minimum/maximum range between successive samples in time, instead of samples taken at the same time.
