Inspections
Inspections are sets of quality checks, typically of the same type, performed on
materials, tools, and assets to collect types of data, including, variables, attributes,
tags, documents, and comments.
These are some examples of inspections that you might perform on a material:
- Production run material
-
Material taken from the line, from a specific production run. The material is the material being created on the production order.
The inspection is linked to the specific production run.
- Inventory pack material
- The inspection is performed on a specific inventory pack. The material is the material of the inventory pack.
- Asset material
- The inspection is performed on a specific asset. Asset model numbers are modeled as materials in Infor MES.
- Material
- An inspection performed against a material but not linked to a production run,
inventory pack, or asset. This mode is typically used for ad hoc checks that have not
been planned.
If possible it is better to record the inspection against a production run, inventory pack, or asset. This gives more context for the inspection and more data about the quality check is recorded.
An inspection collects these types of data:
- Variables: Data that can be measured
- Attributes: Data about the visual appearance, such as whether there is a visual defect
- Tags: Supplementary information to be recorded, typically related to the process
- Images: Uploaded images related to the inspection
- Comments: Additional comments relevant to the inspection when it is performed
