Mapping events to reasons

These values of the OPC item represent the status of the machine:

• Running
• Stopped
• Blocked
• Starved

If the machine is stopped, then different OPC values can represent different reasons for the machine being stopped. These are mapped directly to the master data in Infor MES for machine stop reasons.

If the PLC knows that the machine is stopped, but it does not know why, then it can map to the Unknown reason.

The OPC value can be mapped to a downtime reason if the reasons are configured in advance. In the simplest case, the OPC signal is able only to say if the machine is running or has stopped for an unknown reason.
