Production counting
A production count is a timestamped record that a quantity of material was created on a machine. Infor MES knows the material because it is defined by the production order.
A production count is recorded periodically to tell MES that more material has been produced. If production counts are recorded frequently, then this provides more accurate real-time data.
Production counts are added together over a time period, or a production run, to show the total amount produced.
Infor MES Production Counting functionality works in these modes:
- Automatically
- Through a connection to the equipment using a PLC. Operators can view the order progress on the operator dashboard, without interacting with the system.
- Manually
- Enabling operators to record counts in real-time or to enter the counts retrospectively at the end of the job or shift.
The counts are then used to calculate the actual cycle time of the production run, and the performance efficiency, which feeds into the OEE calculation.
Additionally, these methods of counting production are available in Infor MES:
- Production counting
- Count production in real-time and in more details
- Inventory counting
- Count inventory created at the end of the line. Less real-time, but can be more accurate.
