Setup

The setup period represents when the line is being prepared for the new job.

During this period, full production has not started, but it is possible that some machines in the line are started and stopped as the line is being prepared. Infor MES models this as another production stop, with a different reason.

MES Production Downtime Setup

If the production line is configured to record setup, then a new setup period is started as soon as the production run starts. The production line is then in setup mode until the setup period is closed.

The setup period can be configured to be closed in one of these ways:

  • Manually: Manually close the setup period from the dashboard.
  • Automatic OPC: An OPC signal closes the setup period.
  • Automatic Counter: MES detects a specific quantity has been produced. The threshold for the quantity is configurable.
  • Automatic Inventory: MES detects a specific quantity of inventory has been produced. The threshold for the quantity is configurable.
  • Automatic Speed: MES detects the actual cycle time exceeds a percentage of the target cycle time. The threshold for the percentage is configurable.

Production is started after a setup period is closed, unless the production line is also configured to record ramp up.
