Machine stop collection mode
Infor MES can record machine stops in these collection modes:
- Automatic
- In automatic mode, if there is a direct connection to the PLC, these behaviors are
recorded:
- Exact time the machine stops and starts is recorded in real-time
- Start and stop times cannot be edited manually
- Machine stops as brief as a single second are recorded by the PLC
- Reason might be known or might need subsequent explanation by an operator
In automatic mode, downtime is typically recorded for all machines in the line with PLC signals available.
- Manual real-time
- In manual real-time mode, operators manually stop and start machines in MES. However, it might lead to some of these issues:
-
- To match when machines physically stopped and started
- More work for operators
- Less accurate than automatic recording
- Operators might make a 'best guess' at stop and start times
- Short stops are typically not recorded by operators
- Reason provided is the operator's best understanding of the problem
-
- Manual retrospective
- Operators log the duration of the downtime either at the end of the machine stop or
provide a summary at the end of the job or shift.
The start and stop time of each machine stop is not logged. Only the estimated total duration is logged, which is typically based on notes from the job or shift. It does not typically include short stops.
The reason provided is the operator's best understanding of the issue. - [None]
- Do not record machine stops on this machine.
