Parallel lines
In some manufacturing configurations, multiple lines can work together. This enables you to view KPIs, like OEE, across all lines.
Each line executes its own production run, typically with the production orders grouped under a common production order reference.
For example, a potato chip production factory might have a single production line:
Washing → Peeling → Slicing → Frying
It would also many packing lines:
Flavoring → Bagging → Boxing → Palletizing
From a manufacturing perspective, these production lines always work together.
When you assess OEE and other KPIs, the performance of all lines working together is more important than individual line performance.
From an Infor MES perspective, these are separate product lines that can execute different production orders and different production runs.
The frying line creates semi-finished materials for the packing lines that, in turn, create different flavors, bag sizes, box sizes, and pallet sizes.
