Material forms
When defining manufacturing processes, Infor MES considers the form the material takes as input and as output:
- [None]
- Default if the material form is not specified or is unknown.
- Bulk
- Materials like powders, liquids, and so on.
- Batch
- Set of materials combined together in a batch.
- Sheet
- Sheets of any material. For example, paper, metal, or plastic. These can have properties like length, width, and thickness, enabling area or volume to be calculated.
- Reel
- A reel, or coil, is a continuous sheet which is typically rolled up for storage. Examples include reels of paper, plastic, or metal. A reel has a fixed width and thickness (depth), but its length is measured when unwound, enabling area or volume to be calculated.
- Cable
- Similar to a reel or coil, but with no width.
- Pieces
- Items or pieces. For example, components, cans, bottles, and things. Typically, these are packed into boxes, cases, pallets, and so on. The material master data for the item specifies the number of pieces to be packed.
- Single piece
- Single serialized items, typically of high value being tracked through a process.
