OEE
Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is one of the KPIs calculated by Infor MES. It is the industry standard and primary KPI that the majority of manufactures evaluate and to calculate the efficiency of a production line and where process might be improved.
OEE is made up of these KPIs:
- Availability
- The actual line run time against the planned line run time
- Performance
- The total amount produced, compared to the amount that could have been produced in that time. Both sides are multiplied by the Target Cycle Time (TCT) deliberately. This enables comparisons across different materials with different cycle times. The calculations are all made in units of time.
- Quality
- The amount of good product produced, compared to the total amount produced. Similar to performance, both sides are multiplied by the TCT.
This table explains the ISO 22400 terms used in OEE:
ISO 22400 term | Acronym | Description |
---|---|---|
Total time | N/A | All time in the period being analyzed. The duration between the start of the period and the end of the period. |
Planned operation time | POT | The total time minus any excluded time. Excluded time consists of:
|
Planned busy time | PBT | The planned operation time minus any planned stops. Planned stops consist of:
|
Actual busy time | AUBT | The planned busy time minus any unplanned production stops. |
Processing time | AUPT | The actual busy time minus any other machine stops. |
Actual production time | APT | The processing time minus any setup time. |
Target cycle time | TCT | The target cycle time expresses how many units can be made per second. If the TCT is too low, then the performance could be more than 100%, because production is faster than the target. |
Total quantity produced | TQP | The total quantity produced in the period. |
Theoretical quantity in period | TQIP | How much could have been created in this time |
Total quantity goods | TQG | The total quantity of goods produced in the period. |
Setup time is not excluded from the performance figure, so production and scrap counts, inventory, and build records are included in the performance figure if they fall in a setup period.
