Standard transformation

This is the preferred production model for Infor MES. The only reason not to use this model is if your ERP is configured in such a way that does not permit it.

The scope of a production order is a single production line, and in order to make a finished material, there might be several production orders. Each production order transforms the material, which means that the material being created out of the process is a different material number from the materials going into the process.

The output of this production line might be semi-finished or finished materials but, crucially, the material created has its own unique material number. It is preferred that these semi-finished materials are known in your ERP, but if your ERP does not need to know these semi-finished materials, then these can be defined exclusively in MES.

If the output is a semi-finished material, then that inventory can later be consumed into a future production order.
