Adding an SPC chart definition to an SPC chart set

  1. Select Configuration > SPC > SPC Chart Sets. The SPC Chart Sets screen is displayed.
  2. Select a record and click Add/Assign. The Add/Assign New SPC Chart Definitions screen is displayed at the bottom.
  3. Select a record and click Add/Assign. The Add window is displayed.
  4. Specify this information:
    SPC Chart Set
The chart set to which the chart definition is added.
    Assign to tab
The tab within the chart set where the chart definition is displayed.
    Grouping
Determines how data is grouped for trend analysis. Possible values:
    • Day: Group the data by day.
    • Hour: Group the data by hour.
    • Month: Group the data by Month
    • MS: Group the data by measurement set.
    • MS-H: Group the data by measurement set and head.
    • MS-H-S: Group the data by measurement set, head, and sample.
    • MS-H-S-P: Group the data by measurement set, head, sample, and position.
    • Shift: Group the data by shift.
    • Week: Group the data by week.
    Study Type
The type of SPC analysis for the chart set to perform.
    Moving Range
The range (number) of successive values (measured at different times) to be analyzed together on an on-going (moving) basis to calculate the mean, standard deviation, and range.
    Calc Style
The calculation style, which defines trend rules and Capability Index (Cpk) thresholds.
    Cut By
Determines how data is cut during analysis. Possible values:
    • Machine: Cut data by machine variation.
    • Inspection: Cut data by inspection variation.
    • Inspection Class: Cut data by inspection class variation.
    • Specification: Cut data by specification.
    • Attribute Class: Cut data by attribute class variation.
    • Attribute: Cut data by attribute variation.
    • Head: Cut data by head variation.
    • Position: Cut data by position variation.
    • Measurement Tag:Cut data by measurement tag.
    Sweep From
The date from which data is swept in order to determine variation for charts. If the date is too recent, some charts are not displayed until the next set of data is collected that exhibits the same variation. Specifying a date restricts the range of measurement data checked when creating viewable charts which can speed up chart addition in large systems. Restricting the date could stop the system creating charts for specification/inspection/machine combinations that only exist out of the date band.
