Adding a text OPC item

  1. Select Configuration > OPC > OPC Items. The OPC Items screen is displayed.
  2. Click Add. The Add window is displayed.
  3. Specify this information on the OPC Item tab:
    OPC Item Type
    The type of OPC item must be set to Text.
    Tag Name
    The name of the OPC item.
    Address
    The tag’s address in the OPC server.
    Description
    The description of the OPC item.
    OPC Server
    The OPC server used for reading and writing tags in the from and to fields.
    OPC Group
    The OPC group to which the tag is assigned.
    Machine
    The machine associated with the OPC item.
    Action
    The action to perform when the OPC item value changes. This field can be left blank if you do not wish to perform any actions besides the standard OPC item type action.
    Lookup Job Details
    If this check box is selected, details of jobs running for the machine are retrieved and transferred to the action. The application performance can be improved if this check box is cleared, however, must be enabled if the OPC data relates to job specific information, events, calculations, or triggers.
  4. Click OK.
