OPC Items

OPC Items are tags that define how values are exchanged to and from an OPC Server. You must configure these parameters before adding an OPC Item:

• OPC Client
• OPC Server
• OPC Group

To view and configure OPC items, navigate to Configuration > OPC > OPC Items.

You can use these options on the OPC Items screen:

• Add: Allows you to create a new OPC item.
• Edit: Allows you to modify the existing OPC items.
• Delete: Allows you to delete the existing OPC items.

These types of OPC Items can be used to record different values from PLCs:

• Machine Event: Used to record the status of a machine (stopped or running).
• Counter: Used to record production counts and scrap counts.
• Parameter: Used to record process parameters.
• Digital: Used to record machine events or Boolean values.
• Text: Used to record text based values.
• Meter: Used to record energy meter readings.
