Location Types

Location Types are used to group similar Locations together based on shared characteristics or functional roles. This classification enables streamlined configuration, reporting, and operational control by allowing system behaviors and rules to be applied consistently across grouped locations.

To view and configure location types, navigate to Configuration > Inventory > Location Types.

You can use these options on the Location Types screen:

  • Add: Allows you to create a new location type.
  • Edit: Allows you to modify the existing location types.
  • Retire: Allows you to retire the existing location types. You cannot assign a location to retired location types. Retired location types can be excluded from reports unless included in the report’s filter options.
