Adding a tool

  1. Select Configuration > Assets > Tool Types.The Tool Types screen is displayed.
  2. Select a record and click Tools. The Tools screen is displayed at the bottom.
  3. Click Add. The Add window is displayed.
  4. Specify this information:
    Tool Type
    The type of the tool.
    Tool
    The name of the tool.
    Tool Set
    The name of the collection of tools considered to be of the same set.
    Tool Identification
    The identification detail of the tool.
    Description
    The description of the tool.
    Tool Material
    The material the tool is made from.
    Automatically name and create cavities
    If and how cavities are created based on a sequential naming convention or a predefined template. Possible values:
    • No: Do not create cavities.
    • Auto Name: Automatically create and name the cavities based on the number of cavities.
    • Based On Template: Automatically create and name the cavities based on a tool template.
    Sub Tool Template
    The template is used to specify the positions of sub tools. This configuration option is available only for tool types that support sub tools.
    Asset State
    The initial state of the asset.
    Asset State Reason
    The reason for the asset’s state.
    Comments
    Extra relevant information.
    Tool Change Reason Set
    The tool state change reason set for the tool.
    Tool Cavity State Reason Set
    The tool cavity state reason set for the tool.
    Owner Plant
    The manufacturing plant the tool belongs to.
    Material
    The tool must be linked specifically to a material. You can leave this value empty if the material needs to be linked using material properties.
  5. Specify the information related to the asset on the Asset tab. See, Assets.
  6. Specify the information related to the properties on the Properties tab. The available properties on the tool are defined on the tool type.
  7. Click OK.
