Bill of Material Variants
BOM Variants are used to specify the components and materials needed to manufacture a semi-finished or finished product. A material can have none, one, or multiple BOM variants. A BOM Variant cannot be used in production until released. Once a BOM Variant is released, the BOM Variant cannot be modified until revised. Assign BOM Variants to production orders during creation and scheduling.

You can use these options on the BOM Variants screen:
- Add: Allows you to create a new BOM variant.
- Edit: Allows you to modify the existing BOM variants.
- Delete: Allows you to delete the existing BOM variants.
- Retire: Allows you to retire the existing BOM variants. Retired BOM variants cannot be used on new production orders. Retired BOM variants can be excluded from reports unless included in the report’s filter options.
- Copy: Allows you to create a copy of the existing BOM variants.
- Release: Allows you to release the existing BOM variants.
- Revise: Allows you to revise the existing BOM variants.
- : Allows you to view and configure BOM items within the BOM variants.
- : Allows you to delete the BOM variant by searching for duplicate BOM variants.
