Assigning a variable to an inspection version

  1. Select Configuration > Quality > Inspections. The Inspections screen is displayed.
  2. Select a record and click Variables. The Inspection Variable Administration screen is displayed at the bottom.
  3. Click Add. The Add window is displayed.
  4. Specify this information:
    Specification Set
The specification set to which the variable belongs. This filters the list displayed in the Variable field.
    Variable
The variable to assign to the inspection.
    Entry Order
The order in which the variable is displayed on the data entry page.
    Source
The method used to specify the measurements for the variable. Possible values:
    • Keyboard: The user specifies the measurement through a keyboard.
    • Calc: The variable value is calculated using a formula.
    • Device: The variable measurement is recorded through a gauge device.
    • Keyboard Wedge: The variable measurement is recorded through a keyboard wedge.
    Head
The number of heads for which the variable is recorded.
    Sample
The number of samples for which the variable is recorded.
    Position
The number of positions for which the variable is recorded.
    Multiplier
The multiplication factor applied to measurement data. This is used when a measuring device does not supply the decimal place or when scaling is required. This field value must be set to 1, if scaling is not required.
    Preset
The value added to the measured value. This is used when a gauge measures deviations from a nominal value. This field value must be set to 0, if scaling is not required.
    Instructions
The instructions given to the operator when recording data for the variable. The instructions must be short. Attach long instructions to the inspection as a document.
  5. Click OK.
