Assigning a variable to an inspection version
- Select . The Inspections screen is displayed.
- Select a record and click Variables. The Inspection Variable Administration screen is displayed at the bottom.
- Click Add. The Add window is displayed.
- Specify this information:

Specification Set

The specification set to which the variable belongs. This filters the list displayed in the Variable field.

Variable

The variable to assign to the inspection.

Entry Order

The order in which the variable is displayed on the data entry page.

Source

The method used to specify the measurements for the variable. Possible values:
- Keyboard: The user specifies the measurement through a keyboard.
- Calc: The variable value is calculated using a formula.
- Device: The variable measurement is recorded through a gauge device.
- Keyboard Wedge: The variable measurement is recorded through a keyboard wedge.

Head

The number of heads for which the variable is recorded.

Sample

The number of samples for which the variable is recorded.

Position

The number of positions for which the variable is recorded.

Multiplier
-
The multiplication factor applied to measurement data. This is used when a measuring device does not supply the decimal place or when scaling is required. This field value must be set to 1, if scaling is not required.

Preset
-
The value added to the measured value. This is used when a gauge measures deviations from a nominal value. This field value must be set to 0, if scaling is not required.

Instructions
-
The instructions given to the operator when recording data for the variable. The instructions must be short. Attach long instructions to the inspection as a document.
