Tool templates

Tool templates define default values and configuration settings used when creating new tools. They help ensure consistency across similar tools and simplify data entry for tool administrators.

Here is some information that a tool template might include:

  • Default tool type
  • Counter definitions and thresholds
  • Inspection requirements
  • Initial state and readiness criteria
  • Custom properties and user-defined fields

Templates are typically linked to tool types, allowing each tool type to have a corresponding template that reflects its standard characteristics. When a new tool is created, its template automatically applies these defaults, reducing setup time and ensuring compliance with operational standards.

Each cavity in the template is restricted to have just one tool type for its sub-tool. This rule can enable further restrictions to be defined, that specify the sub-tools permitted in a cavity. This is used extensively used in body maker tooling using progression tables, but can be used in other scenarios.
