Tool properties
Each tool in MES is defined by a set of properties that
describe its identity, function, and lifecycle status.
These properties support traceability, help drive inspections and maintenance scheduling, and enable accurate reporting on tool usage and performance.
Here are some common tool properties:
- Name
- The unique identifier for the tool
- Tool type
- The classification category to which the tool belongs
- State
- The current operational status of the tool, such as Available, In use, or Requires maintenance
- Location
- The current physical or logical location of the tool
- Asset tag
- A unique identifier or barcode for tracking the tool
- Counters
- Usage metrics such as number of parts produced, cycles, or duration in use
- Toolpack membership
- Whether the tool is used independently or is part of a larger toolpack
