Introduction

The tool management capabilities in MES provide comprehensive support for tracking, maintaining, and optimizing tool usage throughout the production process.

Tools are defined as assets and can be tracked for location, usage, inspection, and maintenance.

MES enables full lifecycle management of tools—from acquisition, setup, and calibration, through usage, inspection, maintenance, and retirement.

Tools support counters to measure usage (such as parts produced), and inspections to ensure quality and wear tolerance. Tool state, location, and readiness are also tracked by the system.
