Common faults
When operators or maintenance engineers raise a maintenance request in MES, they can optionally select a common fault to describe the issue.
Using a predefined list of faults can have these benefits:
- Reduces the time needed to type descriptions.
- Provides clearer information for the maintenance planner.
- Enables structured reporting across similar fault types.
Fault list definition
Common faults are user-defined master data. They are linked to the asset type hierarchy, allowing context-specific definitions for:
- Facility
- Area
- Component
- Ancillary
- Container
In addition, faults can be defined by subtype within each asset type, including:
- Line type, within line assets
- Machine type, within machine assets
- Tool type, within tool assets
- Gauge type, within gauge assets
