Typical process flow

This is a typical process flow for outbound shipments in MES:

  1. Create the outbound order which holds information about the amount of material requested in total by the customer. This is represented as an outbound order item for each material.
  2. Create deliveries for the customer that work towards satisfying the overall order quantity. When creating the delivery, items on the delivery are associated with items on the given outbound order.
  3. During the creation of the delivery data, optionally create the planned inventory packs to be shipped and allocate specific packs from stock.
  4. When the shipment is to be prepared, an operator picks inventory from stock and loads it against the delivery.
  5. Once the pack is picked and loaded against the shipment, it is no longer available for picking against any other delivery.
  6. When the last pack for the shipment is picked and loaded, the shipment is complete. The inventory is no longer in stock in MES.
