Typical process flow
This is a typical process flow for outbound shipments in MES:
- Create the outbound order which holds information about the amount of material requested in total by the customer. This is represented as an outbound order item for each material.
- Create deliveries for the customer that work towards satisfying the overall order quantity. When creating the delivery, items on the delivery are associated with items on the given outbound order.
- During the creation of the delivery data, optionally create the planned inventory packs to be shipped and allocate specific packs from stock.
- When the shipment is to be prepared, an operator picks inventory from stock and loads it against the delivery.
- Once the pack is picked and loaded against the shipment, it is no longer available for picking against any other delivery.
- When the last pack for the shipment is picked and loaded, the shipment is complete. The inventory is no longer in stock in MES.
