Receipt
When receiving the delivery, there are several options available:
- Receiving the entire delivery based on the plan.
- Receiving each individual pack on the delivery.
It is possible to use supplier labels during the receipt of material, if they provide the required information to make them usable throughout the factory, such as barcodes for pack number, material, etc.. This approach reduces the cost of inbound processes both in manpower and time to relabel each inventory pack, and also in the labels themselves.
If all of the information about the packs coming from the supplier is known in advance and the operator only checks the numbers of pallets received, it is possible to receive the entire delivery in one action using the recorded inbound pack data.
For further validation of each pack, or to record additional supplier information, such as supplier batch reference numbers, the approach of receiving each individual pack from the delivery can be taken. If relabeling packs is required, it is possible to print labels for the entire delivery or for individual packs.
The operator then takes these labels, scans the pack number from the label (from which the system can determine all the required information from the delivery), and then scans the supplier information (pack number and/or batch number) to associate the label with the supplier details, allowing for supplier traceability on the received packs.
Here is a typical process flow:
- Create the inbound order which holds information about the amount of material requested in total from the supplier, held as an inbound order item for each material.
- Create deliveries from the supplier that work towards satisfying the overall order quantity. When creating the delivery, items on the delivery are associated with items on the given inbound order. The system suggests the order items that match based on material.
- During the creation of the delivery, it is also possible to create the planned inventory packs to be received.
- When the delivery arrives at the warehouse, print off all of the inventory pack labels for the packs on the delivery, if needed.
- Receive the delivery, scanning the appropriate inventory pack information — just the supplier labels, or just the new labels, or supplier labels and new labels.
- Stock is then recorded as received into the stock, in MES.
