Meter items

Each meter item defines the type and structure of data collected from a meter in MES. These items affect how energy consumption and rate are interpreted and reported.

Meter item
A unique name assigned to a specific reading channel on a meter. Multiple meters can share the same item name.
Collection unit
The unit in which the meter reading is physically collected, such as m3 or kWh.
Unit
The unit used for displaying values in reports. A conversion factor is applied if different from the collection unit.
Virtual meter item
Indicates whether the item value is calculated rather than measured directly. These can be included or excluded from reports.

Energy status defines the expected level of energy consumption based on a machine's current operational state. If a meter is linked to a stopped state machine, the system uses production and machine states to determine energy status:

  • Running: The machine is executing a production order
  • Stopped: The machine is down while executing a production order
  • Off: The machine is not executing a production order

If no stopped state machine is linked, the energy status is recorded as [None]. Energy statuses can also be refined by specific stop reasons.
