Asset inspections

Asset inspections enable quality checks to be performed on assets. These inspections verify that the asset meets operational standards and is safe and ready for use.

Inspections can be required based on usage, time intervals, state transitions, or regulatory requirements.

Inspections might involve visual assessments, dimensional measurements, safety tests, or functional checks. They are typically configured through inspection templates that define the checklist items, measurement tolerances, and pass/fail criteria.

Inspection events can be triggered automatically by the system—such as when a tool is unloaded from a machine, after a defined number of cycles, or when a repair has been completed. Manual inspections can also be initiated by authorized users based on observed issues or scheduled intervals.

Inspection data is recorded in the system and contributes to the asset’s historical records. This history supports reliability analysis, compliance reporting, and predictive maintenance strategies. Integration with barcode scanners, tablets, or other devices can improve efficiency and accuracy during the inspection process.

Inspection logic is typically configured in the Quality module, where rules, templates, and workflows define how inspections are applied to different asset types and use cases.
