Asset hierarchy

Assets in MES are arranged in a hierarchy to reflect their physical and functional relationships within the factory.

This structure enables users to drill down into asset relationships and dependencies, which is particularly useful for troubleshooting, reporting, and operational management.

For example, a machine may be part of a production line, which belongs to an area in a facility. The machine itself might include components, tools, or gauges. Using the hierarchy, users can easily view all components of a machine, or trace the lineage of a component back to the facility level.

The hierarchy supports use cases such as cascading status updates, inheritance of maintenance rules, or grouping for analytics. The visualization of this structure also aids in planning asset maintenance and understanding the operational scope of any issue.
