Stocked inventory

Stocked inventory is Inventory that is intended to always be available. The goal is to ensure there is enough stock to meet the likely demands on production.

These materials need to be replenished as they are used, by placing orders on suppliers. This is managed through key properties on the material.

Property Description
Minimum Stock Level The minimum acceptable quantity to remain on stock for this material. Sometimes referred to as safety stock. After the stock level reaches or nears this level, more material should be ordered.
Maximum Stock Level The maximum quantity to be available on stock for this material. This gives an indication of how much material can be ordered. Storage capacity, costs, frequency used, and use-by-dates can all affect the maximum stock level.
Reorder Level If the quantity on stock for this material drops below the reorder point, then new material should be ordered from the suppliers. This can be informational only or can trigger an automatic reorder.
Automatically Reorder? Select this option to automatically reorder materials from suppliers. The reorder is triggered when the quantity of inventory in stock for the selected material falls below the reorder level.
Supplier A material can be linked to one or more suppliers. Sometimes the same material number can be received from multiple customers, but sometimes the same material from different suppliers is handled as separate unique material numbers.

Supplier Lead Time When this material is ordered from the supplier, how many days before the inventory is available in the factory?
