Inventory allocation strategy
It is possible to preallocate specific inventory to be consumed on a production order.
The reasons for this might vary, but here are some common examples:
- The scheduler defines the inventory to be consumed when scheduling the production orders.
- Semi-finished inventory is created, it is then linked to the next production run for the production order.
- Partial inventory packs exist (packs with less than the expected quantity), so these are preallocated to be used first on the next production run.
- A third party warehousing solution is being used (for example an AGV - Automated Guided Vehicle), and tells MES through an interface which inventory has been picked for a specific production order.
Infor MES might issue warnings depending on the circumstances:
- [None]
- Inventory allocations are unverified.
- Warn
- If the inventory scanned is not allocated to the production order, display a warning on the form but allow the transaction to continue.
- Warn and acknowledge
- If the inventory scanned is not allocated to the production order, display a warning on the form that the user must acknowledge before the transaction can continue.
- Error
- If the inventory scanned is not allocated to the production order, it is not possible for the transaction to continue.
- [None] - inventory allocations are not verified.
