BOM items
Each BOM has one or more BOM items, these can also be referred to as:
- Components
- Sub-Parts
- Sub-Items.
A BOM item defines the quantity of each material required to make a finished product, like a cake recipe:
Material |
Quantity |
Unit |
---|---|---|
Caster sugar |
200 |
g |
Butter |
200 |
g |
Egg |
4 |
ea |
Flour |
200 |
g |
Baking powder |
1 |
tsp |
Milk |
30 |
ml |
If the production order is for ten (10) cakes, then the BOM item quantity is calculated:
Material |
Quantity |
Unit |
---|---|---|
Caster sugar |
2000 |
g |
Butter |
2000 |
g |
Egg |
40 |
ea |
Flour |
2000 |
g |
Baking powder |
10 |
tsp |
Milk |
300 |
ml |
It is possible to specify a tolerance for BOM items if the exact amount is difficult to manage.
The tolerance is defined as a multiplier, which works out the upper and lower tolerance as a percentage. An optional global tolerance can be defined in the plant settings, this will apply to all BOM items. Each individual BOM item optionally defines a tolerance, this supersedes the global tolerance, if specified.
