Unpacking

Packages are usually used for transport purposes, so when the package is delivered, the inventory packs on it are unpacked. Once fully unpacked, the package inventory pack no longer exists. These packages are transient and tend to have a rather short life. They have unique numbers, but once the package is gone, the number is associated with an inventory pack that no longer exists. Infor MES never deletes data, so these transient packages remain in the database, but flagged as no longer exists. Consequently, these inventory pack numbers can never be re-used (unlike a container).

These are the options for unpacking:

Unpack all
Fully unpack all inventory packs from the parent inventory pack.
Unpack single
Unpack a single inventory pack from the parent inventory pack.

When an inventory pack is unpacked from the parent inventory pack, it's state reverts from 'packed' back to the state it was in before being packed. Once you unpack a child from a parent, you can then do anything with the child specifically such as move it, change its state, consume it, ship it, etc.
