Serial consumption

Build traceability is more explicit and is typically used in higher-value, lower-volume processes.

When recording consumption, the exact amount consumed from each inventory pack is recorded at the time of consumption.

Assembly processes, batch mixing, and weigh-and-dispense processes typically favor the accuracy provided by explicit build traceability.

Recording explicit consumption using build traceability is more time-consuming for operators but provides better accuracy.

An example of this is making a cake, where each ingredient is weighed precisely, and only the correct quantity of each ingredient is used.
