Rental meter price list
Background
This document describes how to define meter pricing (allowed usage, meter price schedule, and overusage price) at the price list level. This enables setting up different meter conditions per item or item group, customer, price list, rate type, and shift pattern.
On 'Serv price List. Enter Rental Rates' (STS120/B) related option 12='Meter Pricing' calls the program 'Rental Rates. Enter Meter Price' (STS124) and related option 13='Multiple meter pricing' opens 'Rental Rates. Enter Meters Price' (STS129). (STS124) is used to handle meter pricing when you have only one usage meter. (STS129) is used when you have more than one usage meter. You can add records for up to six meter numbers in (STS129). If there is a record for meter number 1 in (STS124) and no records in (STS129), STS124 is used to handle meter pricing.
On (STS124/E) and (STS129/E), the allowed usage and overusage prices for each rate type are set. The information is stored in the table STPRMT (STS124) and STPRMM (STS129).
(STS124) and (STS129) contain a matrix of the allowed meter usage (Agr qty) for each rate type, number of days per week, and shift pattern. They also hold contract item and price schedule type information to replace all information that is currently fetched from 'Contract Item. Connect to Item' (SAS460) and 'Contract Item. Update Meter Prices' (SAS451).
The program 'Rental Meter Transaction. Display' (STS335) visualizes the current meter usage and overusage per agreement, item, and serial number.
Line entry – 'Warehouse. Connect Default Location Data' (STS591)
At line creation, the appropriate meter price is found and copied to the meter price schedule header of the rental agreement line. For backward compatibility, the meter prices can be fetched from (SAS460) or (SAS451) if nothing is found in the price list.
Line entry – 'Rental Agreement. Update Meter Prices' (STS121)
The agreement line meter prices can be managed with (STS121), reachable from 'Rental Agreement. Open Lines' (STS201) option 28 or 'Rental Agreement. Connect Additional Charge' (STS103) option 11. If opening (STS121) through (STS201), it opens for meter suffix 70 (meter number 1). If you want to display and edit other meter numbers, you must open (STS121) through (STS103). The allowed usage value in (STS121) is stored as specified by rate type and shift pattern. For example, if rate type = month, days/week = 5 and shift = 2, the allowed usage value would be 336.
If fields like rate type, days/week, or number of shifts are changed in (STS201), new allowed usage and overusage price values are fetched and stored in STMPSH.
Invoice calculation
At invoice proposal generation, the values from STMPSH are used.
Best price
If rate type equals 9, the invoice interval is used to decide where to fetch the allowed usage at line entry (in combination with the specified number of shifts and days per week).
- If the specified invoice interval is based on months (or years), fetch allowed usage per month.
- If the specified invoice interval is based on days, fetch allowed usage per day.
Limitations
- A rental agreement line is only able to have one invoicable meter.
- You cannot define allowed usage for Rate Type 5-Hours.
Follow these steps
-
Start (STS120), and use related option 12='Meter Pricing' to start (STS124) or, if using more than one usage meter, use related option 13='Multiple meter pricing' to start (STS129).
-
Create a record for your item.
-
Set up the allowed usage for the item. Select a contract item and a meter price schedule type.
Agreement processing
-
Create the rental agreement in the usual way.
-
After a line creation, use the related options from (STS201) to review your meter price schedule header or meter usage.
-
Check out the equipment and perform meter readings as usual.
Outcome
When printing the invoice, the correct meter usage and overusage are calculated automatically.
