Create Resource Requirements Profile for SCP

This document explains how you manually create a resource requirements profile to be used in M3 SCP, and how you connect resources and aggregated bills of material to this profile.

Resource requirements profiles can also be created automatically.

Outcome

A resource requirements profile has been created in the system.

The following tables are updated:

  • Structure header for RCCP (MRCHED)
  • Structure details for RCCP (MRCDET)
  • SCP item group in RCCP (MRCBOM)—optional.

The resource requirements profile is used during supply chain optimization in SCP and contains information about manufacturing resources and constraints.

Before you start

  • The structure type to be used for SCP must have been set in 'Settings - Product Structure' (CRS787/E).
  • SCP item groups and/or items to be used within the resource requirements planning must have been defined in 'SCP Item Group. Open' (SPS030) and/or 'Item. Open' (MMS001).
  • Work centers of type 4 must have been defined in 'Work Center. Open' (PDS010).

Parameters to Set in (RCS030/B)

Field The field indicates …
Facility … the facility within which the resource requirements profile should be valid.
Identity … the ID for the resource structure, in this case an item number or an SCP item group.
Identity type

… whether the resource structure is specified only for a product, or whether the same structure applies for an entire group technology or optional identity.

The valid alternatives are 1=Individual product or 5=SCP item group.

Structure type … the structure type to be used for the profile. The structure type used for SCP is set in 'Settings - Product Structure' (CRS787/E), but may be overridden in this field.
Resource

… the ID of the resource (work center) used for each record in the resource structure.

Resources are entered in 'Work Center. Open' (PDS010) and should refer to resource type 4=Rough-cut capacity planning resource with capacity based on the work centers used.

Lead time offset … the number of days prior to a product's completion date that the operation should be reserved.
Resource usage … the planned consumption of the resource according to the valid U/M and quantity.
Resource usage quantity … the quantity for which the resource usage is entered. Enter the quantity based on the resource unit of the rough-cut capacity planning resource. If no value is entered in this field, the resource usage is assumed to have been entered for a resource unit.
Material ID

… the material ID of the resource used for each record in the resource structure.

Depending on the identity type entered in (RCS030/B), this field indicates an item number or an SCP item group.

Lead time offset … the number of days prior to a product's completion date that the material should be reserved.
Resource usage … the planned consumption of the material according to the valid U/M and quantity.
Resource usage quantity … the quantity for which the material usage is entered. Enter the quantity based on the resource unit of the rough-cut capacity planning resource. If no value is entered in this field, the resource usage is assumed to have been entered for a resource unit.

Follow These Steps

Create Resource Requirements Profile

  1. Start 'Resource Requirements Profile. Open' (RCS030/B).

    Set panel sequence E12.

  2. Select the appropriate facility.

  3. Enter structure type 1 (individual product) or 5 (SCP item group) and the identity for your resource requirements profile.

You can display available item number or SCP items groups by selecting F4=Prompt.

  4. Enter the structure type to be used. Select New.

  5. Enter a description of the profile on the E panel.

Connect Resource Structure

  1. In 'Resource Structure. Open' (RCS031/B), enter a resource (a work center of type 4) and the lead time offset.

  2. On the E panel, enter resource usage and resource usage quantity.

  3. Repeat steps 1–2 for each resource that you want to connect to the profile.

Connect RCCP Materials (optional)

  1. In 'RCCP Material. Open' (RCS032/B), enter a material ID (in this case an item number or an included SCP item group) and the lead time offset.

  2. On the E panel, enter resource usage and resource usage quantity.

  3. Repeat steps 1–2 for each material that you want to connect to the profile.
