Create Automatic Forecast

Before you start

To start this procedure the following prerequisites must be met:

• The Forecast Method is entered for each item/warehouse in 'Item. Connect Warehouse' (MMS002).
• The forecast method entered is specified and entered in 'Forecast Method. Open' (FCS300).
• Demand history statistics are created and saved using a Demand Type defined for the forecast method in use. If demand history does not provide a sufficient basis for forecasting when the system is installed, then alternate simplified calculations can be used. This is done by selecting an alternate start method when performing the forecast calculation.

Follow these steps

Follow the steps below to conduct an automatic forecast calculation.

1. Select 'Automatic Forecast. Calculate' (FCS100), panel E.

2. Specify the items to forecast.

3. Specify the start method (when demand history is insufficient to perform normal forecast calculations based on the specified forecast method).

4. Press Enter to start the forecast calculation.

Output

New forecast values are calculated per period and saved for the specified items and warehouses. The number of periods for which these values are calculated is determined by the forecast method selected.

In connection with forecast calculation, a demand check and forecast check are also performed. This is also done for items forecasted manually. This means that calculated forecast errors are also updated, specified checks are made in the forecast methods and, forecast warnings are issued when necessary.
