Availability Type
Availability types are used when checking component availability against manufacturing orders and work orders. By using these types, you can decide how to check the availability.
Availability types can be used in various programs such as 'Component Availability. Check' (RPS010), 'Manufact Order. Check Comp Availability' (PMS040), and 'Work Order. Check Component Availability' (MOS040). Each type provides a different perspective on component availability, ensuring necessary components are available for planned and released orders.
You can choose from these availability types:
-
Current on-hand balance. This type informs you when the requested quantity of parts is greater than what is physically available in the warehouse. This is useful if the order is to be performed immediately. However, it may not be appropriate when the order is to be performed in a few days or weeks when the material situation might change.
-
Projected on-hand balance. This type takes into account projections on receipts and other uses. This is particularly useful when planning for orders in the future, but not for immediate requirements.
-
Available to promise. This type takes into account the on-hand inventory less customers orders that are due and overdue. This is useful for instance when confirming a date of delivery to a customer.
-
Allocatable net. This type calculates the quantity of components that can be allocated for orders, considering the current on-hand inventory, allocatable on-hand balance and allocated stocks. It is used to determine the net quantity of components that can be assigned to orders after allocations and reservations are accounted.
The allocatable balance quantity depends on the issue method:- Issue method 1-'Picking list' displays the balance from the item-warehouse.
- Issue methods 2-'Requisition', 3-'Backfl put-away' and 4-'Backflush op 2' display the balance per standard location from the item-warehouse for planned manufacturing order and the balance per location of the order material for manufacturing and work order.
- Issue methods 5-'Backf put-away2' and 6-'Backf op 2' display the balance per standard location from the item-warehouse for planned manufacturing order and the balance per operation's location for manufacturing, that is work center, and work order.
