Define Distribution Chain

This document explains how to set up the distribution chain in (CTS020) as a part of 'Supply Model Lines' (MMS059). The settings are part of the Global CTP concept used in the order promising process.

The Global Capable to Promise (Global CTP) is an extension of the traditional Available to Promise (ATP) control at customer order entry.

Outcome

Distribution chains are defined in 'Distribution Chain. Open' (CTS020).

The distribution chains can be linked to 'Supply Model Lines' (MMS059). You use the distribution chain when you need to describe scenarios where internal distribution through multiple warehouses is linked directly to a customer order.

The distribution chain ID is created in the system tables file (CSYTAB) with the constant value 'DSCH'. The distribution chain lines are created in the distribution chain line file (CTDSCL).

Before you start

  • Warehouses must be defined in 'Warehouse. Open' (MMS005).
  • Distribution order types must be defined in 'Req/Distr Order Type. Open' (CRS200).

Follow These Steps

Set Up Program Parameters

  1. Start 'Distribution Chain. Open' (CTS020).

  2. Select F13-Settings to enter CTS020/P.

  3. If you would like to have automatic copying of distribution chain lines when copying a distribution chain, mark this alternative.

  4. By entering '1' as part of the panel sequence, 'Distribution Chain. Line' (CTS025) will be included in the workflow.

  5. Press Enter to verify the new settings, or F12 to reject.

Specify Distribution Chain Head

  1. Enter a distribution chain identity of your choice (maximum 8 characters) and select 'New' to display the E panel. Or select an existing identity for editing or viewing.

  2. On the E panel, enter a distribution chain name and description to facilitate identification of the distribution chain. Description is required.

Connect Distribution Chain Lines

  1. Start 'Distribution Chain. Open Line' (CTS025/B).

This program can also be called via option 11=Distr Chain Line in 'Distribution Chain. Open'.

  2. Select the distribution chain.

  3. Select a sequence number to which you would like to connect the warehouse. Select 'New' to display the E panel.

  4. On panel E enter a warehouse ID and a distribution order type to be used for this link in the chain. Validity dates can be entered. If validity dates are NOT entered the line will always be valid.

Parameters to Set

Program ID/Panel Field The field indicates …
CTS025/B Sequence no …the consecutive order in which the warehouses are linked from supply to demand.
CTS025/E Warehouse ID …the warehouse for a specific line (a link in the distribution chain).
CTS025/E Distribution order type …the distribution order type. It is used when creating distribution order proposals for the links between the warehouses in the chain.
CTS025/E From date and To date …the validity of a line in the distribution chain. Changes can be introduced in advance, and also historical distribution chains can be saved for reviewing.
