Feature

A feature is used to define a specific characteristic of a product. Several different features are often used to fully define a product. Feature is often not specified until a customer order is entered which makes it mostly used in a make-to-order-situation.

A feature can be compared to a question or choice proposed when a product is configured. Color, for example, would be a kind of feature. The feature regulates which answers, or options that can be specified. The Feature Type regulates whether the options are entered using numbers, letters, or item numbers.

Examples of features are:

• Color
• Height
• Engine type
• Amperage
• Size.
