Creating Projects
This document describes how to create projects.
Before you start
The process can be started when:
- a project order type with category project is defined
- project number series is defined
- project elements are entered.
Follow these steps
The section below describes the activities in this process.

Creating Project Structure
When entering a project, you specify the project order type and a unique project number that identifies the project. The number can either be entered manually or generated automatically. When automatically generated, the number is retrieved according to the settings for the selected project order type.
Every project entered in Project Management is also created in Time Accounting (TAC), if installed.
A project structure can be:
-
Created using a predefined Project Templates
Project templates can be copied completely or partly during project entry. Templates can also contain subtemplates.
This creates a project structure that can be changed as needed for the project.
-
Designed manually using Project Elements
When entering a project, you select a project element as the main project element at level 1. The project structure can by built on this by copying the following:
- Other project elements
- All or parts of
- Project templates
- Subtemplates
- Other projects
- Project quotations.
The resulting project structure describes the scope of the project.
-
Copy from another Project
An entire project structure can be copied from another project to create the structure in a new project. You can select the following for copying:
- The latest locked budget
- The outcome from input to the material budget
- Checklists
- Product configurations
- Partners
- Project information
- Project scheduling.
The resulting project structure corresponds to the project requirements.
-
Transfer from Project Quotation
The project structure can also be copied from a project quotation. You can transfer the following:
- Costing for the budget, including material costing
- Checklists
- Completed product configurations

The customer who accepts the quotation is defaulted as the partner in the project and assigned partner type 0, that is, Orderer.
