Define Settings for Register and Maintain a Product Structure

This document explains how you define how material and operations will be connected to a product structure.

Outcome

You have defined:

  • The start panel, date format and panel sequence
  • Which items that should be displayed
  • How the configurator should work
  • When the material list should be updated.

The panels are adjusted to the company’s routines for product structures. To register and support a product structure is facilitated by some general parameters that are defined by default.

Your settings will be saved and will be valid until you changed them.

Follow These Steps

  1. Start ‘Product Structure. Open’ (PDS001/P).

  2. Select start panel.

  3. Enter a panel sequence.

  4. Select date format.

  5. Select whether you want existing product variants to be displayed.

  6. Select whether you want it possible to enter products that not exists in the item file.

  7. Select product configuring for the product.

  8. Select whether the function for engineering change orders should be used to update the material list.

  9. Select whether you want the G panel to be displayed for kits during new record entry.

  10. Press Enter to finish.

Before you start

Program ID/Panel Field The field indicates…
(PDS001/P) Display product variants

… whether existing product variants should be displayed in (PDS001).

The setting is only used in (PDS001). Variant products are items that have code = Stocked variants (3) in the item master. The product structure for a product variant is always retrieved from the main structure (the product which the product variant is created from). The product structure of a stocked variant may not be maintained separately.

Add products—not in item master … whether products which do not exist in the item file may be entered..
Defaulted value— dynamic configurator … how dynamic configuring should be performed.
ECO integration … whether the engineering change order (ECO) should be used to update the bill of material.
Display the G panel at new record entry … whether to display the G panel (kit items) during new record entry.
